Olkalou Constituency

Location and Size
Sigowet-Soin is an electoral Constituency in Kericho County, Kenya. It’s one of the six Constituencies of Kericho County. It was created for 2013 General Elections after being curved out of Belgut and Ainamoi Constituencies.
It boarders Ainamoi, Belgut, Bureti, Nyakach, Nyando and Muhoroni Constituencies. According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (2019), the constituency occupies an area of 466 square Kms. The constituency has Four wards: Sigowet, Kaplelartet, Soliat and Soin.

POPULATION
The constituency has a population of 126,5000 persons as per the 2019 census. It has an area of 466.00 square kilometers. Some part of the constituency is arable.
The membership of the National Government Constituency Development Fund Committee that coordinates implementation of the NG-CDF projects is composed of the National Government Official, two men each nominated in accordance with subsection (3), two women nominated in accordance to section (3), one persons with disability, two persons nominated by constituency office, the officer of the Board and one co-opted member.
The constituency is mostly cosmopolitan, but the major tribes are the Kalenjin and the Kisii and Jaluo speaking communities.
Most of the residents of the Constituency live below poverty line and depend on livestock and crop farming for their livelihood.

• Women, Youth and Persons living with Disability - To empower women, persons with disability and the youths in the constituency
• HIV/AIDs and Other Terminal diseases - To reduce new HIV/AIDs infections, offer support services to affected and infected persons and eliminating stigma.
